College Overview
Vivekananda Vidyavardhaka Sangha Puttur ® formerly known as Puttur Education Society was established in 1915 to impart quality education to students of rural and backward areas in and around Puttur. The Society started functioning with a vision of building a Socio-educational system emphasizing empowering rural boys and girls with education blended with twin ideals of the man making and nation-building. Great visionaries like Molahalli Shiva Rao, Sri Kota Shivarama Karanth, Sri Urimajalu K Rama Bhat(Former MLA, Puttur), and many other eminent personalities of the region have made a remarkable contributions and were instrumental in the development and progress of the Society. The Society consisting of dedicated and selfless social workers is committed to the development of educational Institutions catering to the needs of all sections of the region.
Vivekananda Vidyavardhaka Sangha in its evolution spanning over a century has grown leaps and bounds encompassing more than 80 Institutions, 1163 staff members, and over 20000 students in its embrace. VVSP is involved in conducting various social activities such as a community radio station – Radio Panchajanya 90.8 FM, an innovative social reach-out program – Grama Vikasa Yojana connecting more than 33 villages, Yashas – a platform for training aspiring students appearing for Indian civil service exams, Vivekananda Ayurveda Hospital, Dhyana Mandir, assistance for opening Janoushadhi centers, etc.
